Emeritus Member
For active members who have reached the age of seventy, or who are unable to continue in practice, retaining the right to vote and to hold office.
Emeritus Membership is open to active members who have attained the age of seventy, and to members who are disabled. Where a member is disabled, or in other circumstances the Board of Directors deems appropriate, the age requirement may be waived.
Emeritus Members retain the right to vote and to hold office. The designation of Researcher Emeritus is accorded for life.

- Aged seventy or older, or unable to continue in practice
- Conferred by the Board of Directors on the recommendation of the President
Benefits
- The title of Researcher Emeritus, held for life
- Office space and support, at a level and for a duration determined by the President
- Access to peer-reviewed funding at the same level as current researchers, subject to the rules of the funding body
- Access to the same resources as the association's researchers, including library access
- Continued announcements of conferences, annual meeting updates and newsletters
How to apply
- Nomination citing the researcher's record as an internationally recognised scientist, scholar and innovator, and as a contributor to the international research base.
- Nomination must also cite the researcher's record since retirement, or — where retirement is recent — evidence of a commitment to remain active.
- Conferred by the Board of Directors on the recommendation of the President, supported by the Secretary General. Recognition takes place at a Board meeting.
Terms & fees
- The Board asks Emeritus Members for a voluntary annual assessment fee, which offsets the cost of member services and mailings.
- An initial term research appointment tied to resources runs for three years and may be renewed at the discretion of the governing body.
